Please visit our website: www.cbs.cw Investment obstacles In June 2014 some 34 percent of the companies have indicated that they experie nced investment obstacles. In comparison with December 2013, this was almost the same (35%). These obstacles are mainly due to a shortage in financial resources (23% of the companies) and poor market forecast (20%). Last December these obstacles were 3 percent-point less. More than 12 percent of the interviewed companies (13% last December) indicated that government policy is an investment obstacle. In December 2013 some 50 percent stated that their confidence worsened in the last six months of that year. In June this has decreased to 44 percent. Furthermore 50 percent of the companies considered no change towards their confidence in the economy (was 48%). Although only 6 percent, more businesses acknowledged that their confidence in the economy improved over the past half year (was 2%). Confidence in the future The percentage of enterprises with confidence in the future has stayed the same in comparison with last December (45%). The num ber of companies which have no confidence in the future has decreased from 31 to 24 percent. The companies that had no opinion increased from 24 to 31 percent. This percentage decreased from 39 to 36 percent. Only 7 percent of the companies have the opinion that the investment climate is good (a slight improvement with 5% of la st December). As usual most companies, 57 percent, consider the investment climate to be moderate. In accordance to this, 44 percent of the companies expect to make a loss this year (4 percent points less than December 2013).
